-Ithink that we can choose one way or another, you can hate and disguise or make your life with love and respect. You choose.
María Recalde and Ana Huguet 1.- Right now I feel like quite the same as if I hadn´t watched the film but while I was watching it I felt like quite upset of the protagonists when they kill Danny or when Derek atacks black men and about the controversy between blacks and whites. They come from the thought that I think that first ofall this controversy shouldn´t exist anf because anyone mustn´t die because of it.
2.- The film says that nowadays blacks are accepted in the USA more or less than as if they were normal citizens but there arestill people that doesn´t acept them at all and they fight against to aspell them out of their country. Before the Civil Rights Movement blacks were treated as slaves only and as if they were a merchandise, they had no rights at all and were mistreated.
3.- On one hand I think that blacks haven´t got as much access to the power as whites because there are organisations and gangs that want to exterminate them so they are not at peace and the are controlled so if they do anything that annoys whites they will kill them. On the other hand, we have the example of Barack Obama who is nowadays president of the USA and has power and privilege. In theory they are all the same but really they aren´t
4.- In this movie they discriminate gays and men think they are superior than women and they have more authority in their houses. So they have the control and can order their wifes of doing what they want. People from other countries and also blacks aren´t accepted in their society, They thinjk that only habitants of the USA are equal to them and have the same rights.
5.- Actually I don´t know anyone with racist views because in my country this is acepted and we are open-minded. Although when I see a racist actittude I act against itr and try to defen the victim and solve the conflict.
6.- Nowadays there are latin gangs in our community that commit robberies, or commit also crimes. Our community or police tries to avoid them to keep the community safe for everyone so this quarrels aren´t commited. 7.- I believe someday it will be ended so that we leave in peace and without discrimintion. But I have realised that this is a universal problem really difficult to defeat because you can´t make the whole world think in the same way or that the same things are correct there will be few people that won´t agree with these rules and will fight towards them.
8.- I absolutely agree with his words I think we should leave in peace without enemies so we don´t have to argue about anything we could live with other cultures and learn about them because they could have some good things for us to learn about. If all of us are friends there wouldn´t be controversy. However I Think that there coud be some different opinions about people of other countriesd but every desageement could be solve by talking without violence and making a deal of living in peace despite of having differences in opinions, beliefs and thoughts.
1. I feel shocked right now. This film has evoked me sadness, rage and a feeling of injustice. There are many moments of the film that have evoked those feelings but there are some main ones: when Dereck kill thiose black men, when the white men in the jail violate Dereck and when Dany dies. 2. That nowadays there is equality but it still exist people that want a difference between black and whites. That the country has depeloped in this sense because now black and black men have the same right and duties and both live together and mixed. 3. I think nowadays both have the same acces to power because for example Obama is the United State's president right now. That they are getting their objective little by little and this changes are in part because of their actions. 4. In this movie the main characters think that gays, poor and women are lower. As in the last question they think the same about Asians, Hispanics and black people because they are racist, they think white men are top. 5. No, I don't know enybody with racist vews. 6. I don't know any hate groups but maybe there are, surely. I think the community respond too these groups rejecting them, they are against them but they saty away from them because propably they are agressive groups. 7. No, I think racism won't never ends because will always be a person who will think different. 8. I think as same as Danny: because there is much hatred in the world, now and throughout history, and we must stop hating, because life is too short to spend your whole life hating.
1- Right now we feel surprised because we didn't expect that end in the film, it's very shocking. The film gives us emotions like pain, sadness...those feelings came of the scenes that we watched, the script, the way of showing the emotions and feelings...
2-Racism in the United States in the film is very hard because the black people and white people have fights between them because they don't accept each other. The racism in United States has change to a better situation because respect has improve but black people are still being discriminated.
3- Yes, white people have more access to power and privilege, because they have been more respected and this has create discrimination to black people. I think that those programs that fight institutional racism are necessary because it makes people think about the situation in United States.

Before the white people had more privileges but now is more level. Because we read last year a book about racism in the U.U E.E. It's good because it makes people think about it. 4. The people are against with the gays, and with the poor people. The american people thinks that the Hispanics, black and Asians go to his country to steal their works... 5. 1.- How do you feel right now? What emotions has this film evoked in you? Where do you think those feelings have come from?
I feel surprised about the ending of the film. It has evoked bad feelings like sadness and melancholy, like I've realized in what kind of world we are living. Because of the violence and the resentment of the characters of the film.
2.- What do you think this film says about racism in the United States today? How is racism different today than it was thirty years ago, before the Civil Rights Movement?
That only the most extremist people are racists because there's a lot of mixture of cultures everywhere. It is different because nowadays people is not as racist as thirty years ago and the civil rights movement have helped a lot in this way.
3.-Do you think white people have access to more power and privilege than black people in the United States? Why do you think that? What do you think of affirmative action programs and other efforts to fight institutional racism?
I don't tink so because the president Obama is the most clear example of the black people power and the equality and also nowadays there's more or less the same nomber of black and white people. That they are usefull until a point because there's people that's never going to change their mind.
4.-What are the attitudes towards women, gays and poor people in this movie? How are these attitudes related to attitudes towards Asians, Hispanics and black people of in this movie?

5.-Do you know people with racist views? What do you do when you hear racist remarks?

No, there aren't.
7.-Do you think racism can be ended? How?
Not really because there will be always someone that doesn't want to change his or her mind and making every single person in the wold think the same is almost imposible because there are different morals.
8.- These are Daniel's final words:
So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned - my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it. Derek says it's always good to end a paper with a quote. He says someone else has already said it best. So if you can't top it, steal from them and go out strong. So I picked a guy I thought you'd like. 'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'
What do you think? Write out your ideas in a short paragraph.
You can't be hating all your life because at the end the one that is hurt the most is you and also you're living with that people in the same community and you may be breaking bond with people who hadn't done anything to you just because you hate someone with his physical appearance or his surrondings.

We feel affected about the end of the film, because it was so sensitive, it made us feel surprised, because we didn't expect that Danny was going to die.
2.- What do you think this film says about racism in the United States today? How is racism different today than it was thirty years ago, before the Civil Rights Movement?
Racism is a very common problem nowadays too, but white people are not the only ones who practice racism: black people discriminate white people too.
Today, if you have any racism problems, you can reclaim your rights, make manifestations, search for help in different associations.
3.-Do you think white people have access to more power and privilege than black people in the United States? Why do you think that? What do you think of affirmative action programs and other efforts to fight institutional racism?
No, we can see that the president of the EEUU is a black person.
We think this was made after the Civil Rights Movement, because black people wanted to write and describe their rights, meaning that they are just like the other people.
4.-What are the attitudes towards women, gays and poor people in this movie? How are these attitudes related to attitudes towards Asians, Hispanics and black people of in this movie?
Very aggressive. They suffer the anger of the racist or homophobic people .
5.-Do you know people with racist views? What do you do when you hear racist remarks?
No, I don't. In fact, I know people who fight towards these views. I have foreign friends, and I think they are just like us.
I reproach what they say and I make them convince about my opinion, that we are all just people, nobody is better than the others. I think it's the right way for fighting against the racism.
6.-Do you think racism can be ended? How?
I don't think so. In my opinion, some people will not change their way of thinking, no matter what we do to change it: they think like this and a lot of other people will do it forever.

Right now I feel like quite the same as if I hadn´t watched the film but while I was watching it I felt like quite upset of the protagonists when they kill Danny or when Derek atacks black men and about the controversy between blacks and whites. They come from the thought that I think that first ofall this controversy shouldn´t exist anf because anyone mustn´t die because of it.
2.-
The film says that nowadays blacks are accepted in the USA more or less than as if they were normal citizens but there arestill people that doesn´t acept them at all and they fight against to aspell them out of their country. Before the Civil Rights Movement blacks were treated as slaves only and as if they were a merchandise, they had no rights at all and were mistreated.
3.-
On one hand I think that blacks haven´t got as much access to the power as whites because there are organisations and gangs that want to exterminate them so they are not at peace and the are controlled so if they do anything that annoys whites they will kill them. On the other hand, we have the example of Barack Obama who is nowadays president of the USA and has power and privilege. In theory they are all the same but really they aren´t
4.-
In this movie they discriminate gays and men think they are superior than women and they have more authority in their houses. So they have the control and can order their wifes of doing what they want. People from other countries and also blacks aren´t accepted in their society, They thinjk that only habitants of the USA are equal to them and have the same rights.
5.-
Actually I don´t know anyone with racist views because in my country this is acepted and we are open-minded. Although when I see a racist actittude I act against itr and try to defen the victim and solve the conflict.
6.-
Nowadays there are latin gangs in our community that commit robberies, or commit also crimes. Our community or police tries to avoid them to keep the community safe for everyone so this quarrels aren´t commited.
7.-
I believe someday it will be ended so that we leave in peace and without discrimintion. But I have realised that this is a universal problem really difficult to defeat because you can´t make the whole world think in the same way or that the same things are correct there will be few people that won´t agree with these rules and will fight towards them.
8.-
I absolutely agree with his words I think we should leave in peace without enemies so we don´t have to argue about anything we could live with other cultures and learn about them because they could have some good things for us to learn about. If all of us are friends there wouldn´t be controversy. However I Think that there coud be some different opinions about people of other countriesd but every desageement could be solve by talking without violence and making a deal of living in peace despite of having differences in opinions, beliefs and thoughts.

ReplyDelete1.

4- All of the attitudes that they took in the film are very hard because the parent instill on his old son that he has to “hate” all the people who's different. Those attitudes get worse with this persons because in this society aren't accept persons who are different in some physical aspects.
5- Yes, we know a lot of who's racist and they are like that because they said that people who came from another country remove his jobs.
6- In our community are organized hate groups, the most groups are compounds by Hispanics people that they attack another people with bad intentions.
7- We think that it can't be ended because in all places there would be someone who is against anyone because of any characters.
8- We think that everything that he said is right. He right when he said that hate is a baggage and life is too short to pissed all of time, and the most important thing that he said is that we're not enemies but friends, he's right and everybody should take this quote seriously and use it in his life all the time.

ReplyDelete1-I feel better than before we watched this film. We have been thinking about the discrimination along all the film. They come from your childhood.
2-It discriminate black people because they come to USA to be the hood´s
gods and to be ilegal and annoy people who were living in peace in their own country. Because before the civil rights movement they were mistreated as slaves.
3-Yes because some of the black people are known because being agressive and conflictive so too many white people think they are all equal.I think all are awesome because they help.
4-The attitude is very discriminatory towards them. They are all the same
5-Yes i know about racist people.I use to shut up and not say nothing.
6-Yes in our country SPAIN they are some different gangs. They use to get divided in members that in some situations all are from the same coutnry or religion. They are very dangerous and hard people that can kill you or injure yourself. In my comunity police try to catch them and it born nazi gangs to contrarest them.
7-The racism can´t be ended because it´s a problem that persit in people´s minds. This is hard to eliminate.
8-I think it´s good beacuse he has been reflexioned aboout all his ilegal live and he has learned.

ReplyDelete1. We feel a little bit sad. The story is hard to see above all when the brother is shooted .
We feel sadness. From the dead of the brother.
2. The film says that the black people doenst have space in the society. The black people were discriminated but now the situation of them is better.
3. Before the white people had more privileges but now is more level.
Because we read last year a book about racism in the U.U E.E.
It's good because it makes people think about it.
4. The people are against with the gays, and with the poor people.
The american people thinks that the Hispanics, black and Asians go to his country to steal their works...
5. No. If the comments are really hard we argument the situation, but if they are insignificant we don't comment ever.
6. No. No way.
7. No, because the silly people will never disappear.
8. We agree with the finally words of the brother and we think that we have to be kind with all the people and don't discrminate.
